Well Water Testing in Souris, ND

Well Water Testing in Souris, ND

A private well gets no oversight from a water utility. If nobody tests it, nobody knows what is in it. Souris, ND Well Water Treatment collects well water testing samples in Souris, ND and sends them to a certified lab, then walks you through the numbers.

A basic panel checks total coliform, E. coli, nitrate, pH, hardness, iron and manganese. Where local rock or old plumbing calls for it, we add arsenic, lead, copper, fluoride or uranium. Sampling is done from a cold tap with the aerator removed, after the line has run, into a sterile bottle. Bacteria samples have a short hold time, usually about 24 to 30 hours, so we plan pickup and lab drop-off around it.

When should you test?

• Once a year as a baseline
• After flooding near the wellhead
• After a new pump, pipe work or a well cap replacement
• When taste, smell or color changes
• Before buying or selling a home on a well

Well water treatment only works when it is matched to real results. A softener will not fix bacteria, and a UV lamp will not touch nitrates. Testing first saves you from buying the wrong equipment.
